Shari Lyon paints with a medium that is rarer than most other mediums –– encaustic. Encaustic painting tends to be uncommon these days but it has a rich and ancient history. The medium dates back to the 5th century B.C. It is the process of painting with a mix of melted beeswax and damar resin. The result is a highly durable art form.

Elizabeth Butler is a classically trained artist who pulled from her extensive knowledge of traditional oil painting techniques, and years of mastering the use of gold leaf with florals in oil, to develop her unique medium of mixed metal leaf collage.
